Dolphin Queen

Budget Similan liveaboard

Dolphin Queen guests

MV Dolphin Queen

MV Dolphin Queen is our top pick for a budget Similan liveaboard. It offers excellent cruises to the best dive sites Thailand and Myanmar’s Mergui Archipelago.

It’s an excellent budget choice for divers staying in Khao Lak, and just a deposit is required to confirm your place.
Dolphin Queen is wooden mono-hulled vessel that is professionally run by a friendly staff and crew.

Cabins are small and do not have en-suite bathrooms but they are clean and do have air conditioning and charging sockets for your electronics. All except two cabins are on the main deck. The two double cabins on the upper deck are slightly larger.

There is plenty of space in the communal areas of the boat. The food always gets good reviews too.

“The trip was great! All of the instructors and crew members were amazing. Gab and Mayumi and Fernando were so helpful and the whole boat staff (Sun Tom and Duang) were so friendly and accommodating. Definitely planning on doing another liveaboard in the future. ”

It was awesome. On the second dive we literally jumped on a whale shark at Richelieu Rock 🙂 The trip was really well organized, good equipment and the staff professional. The boat was also nice even though not as spacious as Oktavia. Also the food was a bit better on the Oktavia but still good and they also catered for the vegetarians. I would definitely go with them again.

Everything with the boat and crew was amazing, and I wish they would dive in more destinations so I could travel more with them. Burma might be on the map for January though.

Ivan, the trip leader, was charismatic and fun. Food was great; nearly all Thai food and we tried some things we never had. It’s a miracle what they produce out of that tiny kitchen. Safety was never a concern. We saw some great stuff. The 4 day itinerary is a great cross section of andaman highlights. Richelieu rock, elephant rocks, and koh bon pinnacle were my favorites. We got our advanced ow cert and were glad we did. Boat is in great shape. Thai support crew and captain are really helpful and nice. Air con in the cabins! They’re also pro-ecology as well, counseling us all to be careful on the reef and respect the life underwater. I will be posting an unreserved 5 star review on trip advisor.

My friends and I went on Dolphin Queen and had a great trip. Dive guides are experienced and the Thai staff on the boat are extremely nice and friendly! Food is very good, loved the boat itself too, it felt very homey. Xxycn, Oct 2015. More on trip advisor.
