Oktavia divers

MV Oktavia is a large, stable Khao Lak liveaboard with flexible 2, 3, 4 or 5 day itineraries.

Oktavia has the personal touch. Feedback consistently rates this boat the friendliest liveaboard in the Similan Islands.

Oktavia is great divers with non diving/snorkeling partners. It has dedicated snorkeling guides and 3-4 snorkeling sessions per day. There are daily excursions to the beaches when the boat is in the Similan Islands.

Oktavia is also one of the few boats with which you can learn to dive in the Similan Islands. PADI and SSI courses are available.

Oktavia’s cabins are huge. Beds are 2 metres long and even the single berths have wide mattresses ideal for bigger guests. Large windows give a light and airy feel. Cabins are twin share but triple and single occupancy is also possible. Oktavia’s single supplement is good value if you want a private cabin.

There are 13 main deck standard cabins of twin bunk or double bed formation. Each cabin has air conditioning and fan cooling so you can get your cabin to the desired temperature. These standard cabins share 4 bathrooms on the same deck that are cleaned several times per day. All cabins have sea views. All cabins have 220v electric outlets, mirrors, storage space for clothes and luggage.

Two huge  (25sqm) master cabins on the upper deck each have a king size bed and private en-suite bathroom. Master cabins also have a fridge and TV.

There is a large dining and socializing area on the upper deck aft  where all meals are served and dive briefings are held. There are comfy cushioned chairs and hammocks, it’s a great place to relax in the shade.

The top deck has a 65 sqm sundeck with cushions for sunbathing, and a shaded fly bridge with comfy seating.

We had an excellent trip thank you. The diving was fabulous as viz was outstanding and there were no strong currents to speak of . The crew were superb as were the guides and we were really lucky with the guests , a great mix and all friendly. A good coffee machine would enhance the boat greatly . The boat itself is an olds but does the job and the skipper drops you and picks you up right on the spot . No regrets on our decision to book it !

The trip was great! Yes, I'll be sure to write a TripAdvisor review next week! I really liked the staff, it was cool that they had all dif types of personality dive guides, really nice! Rooms were spacious! Great lounge space! Only feedback for improvement would be: they need chocolate cereal on board (all liveaboards have this!), need healthier snacks than fried spring rolls (nasty!) and there should be some variation in dinner (every night was the same Thai curry with absolutely no spice at all- a disappointment for being in Thailand!). But otherwise the trip was great! I've recommended Oktavia to a few friends/family who will be going this spring! Thanks for all of your help organizing!

Hi Paul, Yesterday we returned from our trip to Thailand and Cambodia and as promised hereby a short review on our live-aboard We enjoyd the trip, the boat, the excelent food and the crew. We visit some very nice dive places and we saw a couple of lepardsharks on one of the trips J. I only have one remark (but didn’t discus that with Jez, the dive guide), the swimming speed was very high. I’m a photographer and want sometimes spent some time with a subject to take some good pictures. But that wasn’t possible most times. He had to finish his dive in a hour and need to swim the whole traject. As a skilled diver (instructor), I staid multiple times behind, took my photo’s and catched up with the group later but I think Jez didn’t missed me during that time. Maybe this can be discussed with the dive guides for futher guests onboard. I’ll also make a positif review at trip advisor later this week Regards, Marco

So we will have really great memories about it! I hope I will come back.

Just a quick note to say we really enjoyed the trip, the boat and crew were great and it was a fun few days. The scuba divers simply raved about what they saw. The boat definitely did their best to look after us and the other snorkelers on board, and Koh Tachai was the best spot for snorkellers saw some really great stuff.

It was a great trip. Pros:I thought it was a good value, I really liked the master suite, the meals were all very good, and the crew was great. Cons: The dive deck is a bit small and crowded compared to other liveaboards I’ve been on. Not a huge deal, but it makes it hectic to get everyone in the water in a timely fashion, especially when there’s a lot of current. That said, overall I was pleased with the trip and had a good time. Thanks.
