A liveaboard with less diving

Similan Islands overnight dive snorkel beach

2 days 1 night (4 dives) plus snorkeling and beach time

We often get emails from casual divers who want to stay overnight on a liveaboard but don’t want full on diving all day long. Or couples where one person is a diver and the other prefers the beach.

Most dive boats focus solely on diving, with 4 dives per day and very little of anything else. Because the Similan and Surin Islands marine parks are so spread out the boats are usually moving from one island to the next between dives.

This means that for non divers on a typical liveaboard don’t get much time to snorkel, or to explore the amazing beaches at the Similan Islands.

Well we now have an option for those people. The MV Koon offers an overnight tour for divers and snorkelers. It will suit divers who want to do a few scuba dives but also want to snorkel and visit the beaches. We think it’s ideal for less experienced divers, or dive/non dive couples (more experienced divers will prefer 2d1n on South Siam 3).

Itinerary: You go out on the one day tour by speedboat and in the morning you snorkel and visit the beach. But instead of returning in the afternoon you transfer to the dive liveaboard. You do two dives that afternoon/evening, then relax on board at the Similan Islands overnight.

On the second day you do two dives in the morning before joining the day trip speedboat after lunch. Then you can visit island 8 and climb the sail rock viewpoint, or go snorkeling. Then return back to the mainland and transfer back to your hotel in Phuket or Khao Lak.

Schedule: Every day from 16 Oct to 5 May. Book early because the cabin space is limited.

Prices

  • Twin share (bunk bed) cabin: 13,500 baht diver* / 9,900 baht per snorkeler/child
  • Single occupancy: 15,500 baht per diver / 11,900 baht per snorkeler
  • Extra night add 10,000 baht per diver / 7,000 baht per non diver

Price includes: All meals, accommodation in twin share cabins, round trip transfers from Phuket hotels (in zone) and central Khao Lak hotels, national park fees, scuba equipment, dive guide.

Not included: dive computer (optional extra), transfers from outside areas.

    Hi
Do you still run your snorkeling/diving-tours? We are two persons, interested in a 3-4 day tour in end feb or beginning March from Phuket or Kao Lak. Thanks!

Yes the program runs until the first week of May. Start any day, subject to space being available. You can have pick up at a Phuket hotel and drop off at a Khao Lak hotel. It’s a 2d1n program. You can add extra nights for 10,000 baht/nights but you will be diving at the same places.
