This one and a half day dive program for beginners at the Similan Islands includes a half day of theory and pool practice in Khao Lak, followed by a full day on the dive boat at the Similan Islands. There are two dives at the Similan Islands, one in the morning and one in the afternoon with lunch served on the dive boat between dives. The maximum depth of the dives is 12 metres. There will also be time for a beach excursion.
No previous experience is necessary, your PADI dive instructor will take good care of you. You’ll probably find that diving is easier than you think. The half day pool session will give you the confidence to go on the dve boat and enjoy your Similan Island dives to the full. During your two dives you will be guided over the coral reef where you will see an abundance of fish life, schools of reef fish, moray eels, lion fish, parrot fish, snapper, fusilier, blue spotted sting rays, the list goes on.
You will be amazed at how much you see, the fish will come close to you, seemingly as curious about you as you are about them.
Your dive will last between 30 and 60 minutes (depending on how quickly you use the air in your tank).
This beginner dive program is called the “PADI Discover Scuba Diving” or DSD program. It is not a course with certification at the end, it’s just for fun. It is a very safe program with constant in water supervision by an experienced PADI dive instructor.
If you enjoy Discover Scuba Diving you can credit the dive towards the PADI Scuba Diver or PADI Open Water Diver certification course.
