Update 2016: SCUBA Adventure is now called Sawasdee Fasai
Scuba Explorer
Built in 2004 Scuba Explorer is popular with Japanese divers, especially photographers who appreciate it’s separate photo and camera maintenance room plus audio/video/computer facilities.
Scuba Explorer feels huge with a large saloon and sundeck. The divedeck and kitting up area is also very spacious. The suite cabins are some of the best available on any boat.
The suite rooms have private bathrooms. Standard and Deluxe rooms share bathrooms. Toilet and shower rooms have been cleverly separated so there is never a queue.
The Thai food is good on most liveaboards but on Scuba Explorer it’s exceptional. At meal times the boat transforms into a floating restaurant. Fish grilled on the large barbecue is a highlight.
From November to April Scuba Explorer dives the Similan and Surin marine parks plus Richelieu Rock, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai, Hin Daeng, Hin Muang and Phi Phi.
From June to October Scuba Explorer dives the Gulf of Thailand, one of the few liveaboards to do so. Also, while the boat is transiting between the Andaman Sea and Koh Tao in late June, and again in early July, there is a unique opportunity to dive the rarely visited dive sites of Losin and Ko Kra in the south of the Gulf of Thailand. Here, the water visibility is generally better and you have good opportunities to see schools of pelagics.
